Sea of dance - Touring festival in Sardinia

The project Mare di Danza – Dance Sea - started in 1996 by the long time artistic-cultural cooperation with artists, research and production centres, universities and international networks operating in the Euro-Mediterranean area.

The festival has represented an occasion of meeting among different generations, cultures, knowledge and beliefs. Meeting between young people and adults, between artists and researchers addressing the issues of autonomy and citizenship.

One of the target was the development of high profile cultural itineraries in the interior areas of Sardinia and of the Mediterranean, or in the social discomfort zones, in order to promote communication and a sustainable way to live together.

An event that investigates, through reciprocal gazes and specula games, the ways to create one’s individual and social identity, here and where one comes from.

After 10 years the project Mare di Danza, is willing to keep promoting the Mediterranean intercultural dialogue.

One cannot look with indifference and resignation at the legitimating of criminal acts that are still named wars. Supporting the promotion of the intercultural dialogue throughout art and the observation of migration flux : nomadic artists and people looking for homes.

Arts as intercultural dialogue

Art to enhance the rite of meetings, exchanges and welcoming
Art to improve the qualities of places, people and individuals
Art as a means to harmonize the differences and canalize conflicts.

The Mediterranean as cultural context in a peace hypothesis

Working in the Mediterranean today it allows the ability to transform conflict dynamics into creative processes in order to open new solidarity and sharing spaces.

Mare di danza shall also be the occasion to express solidarity to both Palestinian and Lebanese civil society, it shall also contribute to an ethic citizenship sense reconstruction.

A LOUD AND CLEAR NO WAR, TO ANY KIND OF OUT CASTING AND TO ANY KIND OF OVERWHELMING
